Nothing is more rewarding than relaxing at home after a long day of doing errands (groceries, laundry, haircut, more groceries, cooking). So when Soph came home from choir practice and asked if I wanted to split a beer, I was all upons. The winner we chose (because, in our fridge, the beers have to compete in order to be deemed satisfactory to both of us) was Fuller’s ESB, one of the general list items at the LCBO that we often pass because it’s simply always there (where’s the novelty?). But tonight it was the perfect choice: lots of caramel malts and just the right amount of bitterness. At 5.9% ABV, it hid the alcohol well, but was also warming. I wasn’t crazy about the mouthfeel as the carbonation just didn’t seem right, but it’s a steal at $2.55 for a can. I can see us stocking a can or two on a more regular basis.
At this point, I would also like to congratulate England for making its first appearance on this blog. I didn’t think it would take this long to reach five countries. Even more surprising: still no Belgium!
