After a long day and some freezing cold weather, it felt right to come home and curl up with a Christmas beer. There are limited options in Ontario to get any holiday related beers, with one of the few being the Wychwood Bah Humbug. As promised, this deep copper beer has added spices like cinnamon to make it taste seasonal, though not the blatant spiciness and zing I was expecting. It is a little thin, missing a heartiness to complement the flavours. The caramel malts are almost the star of this, delivering a bit of balance to round out the beer.
The Bah Humbug is a nice beer for once or twice a year, but certainly not the greatest beer for Christmas. Though if you’re looking for something different for the non-beer geek, it might work as it’s not too radical.
