Ah, back home to an overflowing collection of beer. After a long day of work (which isn’t recommended the day after a vacation), my mind was targetted and locked on some Köstritzer Schwarzbier. For all the bitching about the LCBO that takes place, they do get some sweet deals on imported beer due to the large amount they buy. My memory of this beer is always better than my experiences drinking it, but it still qualifies as one of the few lagers I will turn to with any regularity. It combines some lager qualities (crisp mouthfeel, bready malts) with a roasted flavour that is more common to dark ales and porters. The flavour profile could be a little stronger, but it still works as a sessionable winter brew.
