It’s really nice to have someone cook food for you, especially when that friend is cooking Indian food and will pair nicely with beer. Unfortunately, the best options near her were limited, so I opted for some Wellington Arkell Best Bitter (mainly because it was one of the few craft beers not on or near the best before date). At 4% ABV, the beer is trying to go for the English tradition of low-alcohol and high-flavour, but really falls flat. There is some caramel undertones, but not much else – a beer that just, you know, “tastes like beer”. Meaning flavourless.
