I think life is mainly about the small pleasures, like when your work calls you in early and suddenly you find the rare weekday night when you and your partner get to have dinner together and split some beer from Quebec. The beer in question was one of Soph’s picks from Gatineau, a bottle of Bilboquet L’Archange. Hefeweizens haven’t made frequent appearances on this blog so far, mainly because of the weather, and this is not the best way to introduce them. The yeast was really apparent from the pour, creating a light apple cider appearance, far from the usual haze of a hefe. The flavours were all over the place: vinegar, lemon drop, apple, but not any of the wheat or spices. The body was okay, but a tad on the weak side. A perplexing brew.
