With beer, as with most of life, there are small intangibles that make the difference between something good and something great. This is especially true for Belgian ales, where a lot of the key ingredients are similar, but only few brewers can utilize them to create an amazing beer. At first, Piraat can seem like a lot of other golden Belgian ales: sweet, bready, notes of honey and a crisp fruitiness with a dry finish. But the way it comes together makes all the difference, with the just the right amount of each element and a strong 10.5%ABV to give some extra oomph. Quite warming, especially for a golden ale.
