I spent a good chunk of Family Day actually with my parents and brother, including lunch at a Milestones-esque “grill” in Don Mills. No surprise, the beer list was uninspiring (to quote what my brother said to our waitress, “Labatt products suck”), but they did have $3.99 pints of house beer Pin-up Dark Ale. According to said wattress, the Pin-up was brewed by Muskoka, so I’m going to assume it was the Muskoka Dark Ale. Not the best craft brew, but I still had to give them some support from the macro monsters.
My glass arrived a little short on the pour, with a slightly fizzy, light tan head. A nice warming, roasted chocolate flavour, which pairs with the nutty background quite nicely. The body is a little thin and there’s nothing remarkable about the beer, but it also won’t scare away people starting to get into craft beer.
