Running this a little earlier in the week than normal to give some extra warning.
- There is a Beau’s All Natural Brewing event happening at Bar Volo on Wednesday night. The I.P. Eh? and Bogwater will be available on cask, with the I.P. Eh?, Lug Tread and Sleepy Time Belgian Imperial Stout on tap. Steve Beauchesne will be at the event, which starts at 6pm.
- Volo is also hosting the next CASK! Social this Saturday. Durham Red Dragon, F&M Oatmeal Coffee Stout, Black Oak Nutcracker and Great Lakes Brewing Pompous Ass will be the cask ales available from 3-6pm.
- And in case it seems column exists solely as a news wire for Volo, mark your calendars for this: C’est What’s Spring Festival of Craft Beer happens on Friday, May 28th. No other details, but I really liked the one from last Fall, so it’s a don’t-miss event for me.
- Finally, a big congrats to all the Canadian winners from the World Beer Cup! Unibroue snagged a couple of bronze medals for La Fin du Monde (Belgian-Style Pale Strong Ale) and Ephémère Pomme (Fruit Beer or Field Beer). Russell Brewing also received two bronze medals for their Russell IP’eh! (English-Style India Pale Ale) Russell Wee Angry Scotch Ale (Scottish-Style Ale). Micro-Brasserie le Trou du Diable picked up a silver for La Grivoise de Noel (Belgian-Style Dark Strong Ale). Thor’s Hammer from Central City Brewing silvered in the Barley Wine-Style Ale category and Whistler Brewing had their Whistler Black Tusk Ale get a bronze in the English-Style Mild Ale. Sadly, no Ontario brews, but now I’ve got some beers to look out for whenever I’m in Quebec/BC. Full list of winners here.
