My stash of beer has been growing exponentially the past couple of months and it was time to start digging around in the back, finding the bottles that have been hidden for some time. One of these was a Harviestoun Ola Dubh 12, which you may have missed if you’ve only started reading the blog. Aside from the obvious whiskey notes from the casks the Ola Dubh 12 was aged in, there were strong flavours of vanilla, stewed dark fruits and roasted malts. A little flat and weak in the body, but an otherwise delectable old ale. Will we be seeing more unique and rare beers from the LCBO? Hopefully – the Ola Dubhs certainly seemed to do well, but it is not known for being the most logical institution. Stay tuned.
